About
Welcome to the Hartland Hurricanes! The team offer swimmers the opportunity to develop their swimming abilities while learning the importance of hard work, sportsmanship, and teamwork. We seek to provide an environment in which all eligible swimmers can learn and improve their swimming skills, achieve their goals, and be recognized for their accomplishments. We compete against other teams in the Old Dominion Swim League (ODSL) and our focus is on building skills for competition.
What are the eligibility requirements for the Hurricanes?
The Hurricanes team is open to all Hartland residents ages 5-18 who are registered and in good standing with the HOA.
To join the team, swimmers ages 8 & under must be able to swim 25m (1 length of the pool) on top of the water without touching the bottom or using the lane line for assistance, swimmers 9 & up must be able to swim 50m on top of the water. Evaluations will be conducted on the first day of practice to make sure new swimmers meet these requirements.
What are the eligibility requirements for the Typhoons?
The Typhoon team is an introductory program for future swim team members (ages 8 & under). Swimmers in this program are not yet ready for a traditional swim team practice but are progressing towards that goal. We hope the typhoons program is a positive and fun experience for all. Our goal is to foster an excitement for swimming, motivate our young swimmers to work on and improve their strokes, and engage new families, all while proactively developing our next season of competitive swimmers. Swimmers should be comfortable with the water as we will be focusing on stroke development and able to swim approximately 10 meters without stopping and without assistance.
